RJ Power Group makes Christmas donations for local children

RJ Power Group has been busy delivering Christmas hampers to local schools and kids’ clubs to add to their Christmas raffles in order to raise well needed funds for their individual projects. Flipitas is one such club – a gymnastics club set up in 2011 by Pippa Couch, a gymnast with over 25 years’ experience.

It is run from non-purpose-built facilities at The Vale School in Findon and Durrington Middle School. Starting with with just 11 gymnasts from a disbanded squad, it has since grown to a membership of over 500 children. The not-for-profit organisation offers recreational gymnastics for people aged from three to young adult. It recently set up a free class for children with any form of special needs, which is proving very popular.

Its hamper was raffled off as part of its Christmas displays on the weekend of 17th and 18th December, raising funds for a much needed new beam. Pippa said: “It’s donations like this which enable us to raise funds to buy new equipment that our gymnasts can benefit from, so thank you to RJ Power Group”.

Arun Gymnastics is a local club based at Felpham Leisure Centre in Sussex, which coaches children and runs recreational gymnastics, as well as two squad groups which compete in the south-east of the country. The club held a raffle at its Christmas display on December 17th to help raise money towards a very costly new air track. This is a fantastic piece of equipment which helps gymnasts to practice their tumbles safely and give them extra bounce, enabling them to progress and master their skills.

St Wilfirid’s School of Angmering, West Sussex, is a primary Catholic School, which RJ Power Group continues to support. Its raffle was held after the Key Stage 1 nativity play on Wednesday 7th December, which raised just under £200. The school will be adding resources to a new classroom, which was created after adapting the current building. The school shares classrooms between year groups but the new classroom has enabled Years 1 and 2 to have their own space to learn in.

Chestnut Tree House is a hospice which RJ Power Group supported earlier this year, when it put on a charity day to assist the ongoing maintenance of its memorial garden. Chestnut Tree House provides invaluable respite for families with a child who will not make it to adulthood due to terminal illness. The hamper from RJ Power Group will be donated to a family whose child is currently receiving end of life care at the hospice. The family, understandably, has not had chance to get anything in for Christmas, so RJ Power Group hopes that this will go a little way towards making things easier for them at this difficult time.
