RJ Power Group attend National Commercial Directors Forum with Network Rail

Rail Engineering contractor RJ Power Group were invited to attend the National Commercial Directors Forum for Network Rail Infrastructure Projects last week, as a Tier 2 representative from the Regional CDF.

The High Voltage installation specialist were asked to present to the forum; providing an overview of the business capabilities, how the company participates in the forum at a regional level and what outputs RJ Power Group have generated.

The presentation was well received by over 60 delegates, involving representatives from Network Rail and some their Tier 1 contractors. These included Amey, Balfour Beatty, BAM Nuttall, Colas Rail and Costain.

The forum focussed on feedback from a number of national working groups, highlighting the attention that these groups are receiving within the senior ranks of Network Rail Executives.

Areas of feedback included:

  • Defining allowable cost & fee on projects and looking at improving the change management process to avoid a repeat of CP4 outstanding claims.
  • Setting up a dispute avoidance to ensure claims are dealt with swiftly.

An example of exemplary collaborative working was also presented, which highlighted key elements for developing high performing teams.

There was also a market stall style session, where groups within Network Rail gave presentations on new processes and programmes such as:

  • Rolling out of new Network Rail branded hoardings for all sites – Autumn 2016.
  • Launch of a new Enterprise Risk & Value Management Framework
  • Launch of a new Cost Planning Improvement Programme
  • Brief on Work Bank Planning (CP6)
