The RJ Power Group of businesses are delighted to announce that we have selected to partner with We Are Beams, a local charity who work with disabled children, young people and their families offering a range of support initiatives including family advice, short breaks, overnight care and coordination of support payments to families to support their children’s care and needs.
The Charity was founded in 1996 by a group of parents, who believed they could together provide better support than they were receiving from the local authorities for their disabled children. Their mission being to “provide comprehensive support services to families of children and young people with any form of physical, learning or sensory impairment living in the Dartford, Gravesham, Sevenoaks and the surrounding areas”.
RJ Power were introduced to We Are Beams last year through CSR 2025 forum, an initiative developed by TA Barker Associates of which both RJ Power and We Are Beams are founding members. The forum focuses on supporting businesses to deliver meaningful Corporate Social Responsibility activities. A number of discussions highlighted that not only were both organisations nearby in terms of locality, but also through a number of shared values and a supportive culture, which led to the agreement that RJ Power would be delighted to support We Are Beams with a range of fundraising and awareness initiatives.
Jenna Wells, HR and Marketing Manager for RJ Power describes the partnership as: “An ideal opportunity to support a local charity that provides a significant impact to a wide range of disabled children and their families. This allows RJ Power through engaging team activities, that everyone can play a part in, to donate and participate in events and generate fresh ideas for fund raising.”
As with the entire charity sector, the Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on the ability to fundraise, especially given a number of face to face events that have had to be cancelled and people are facing ongoing financial uncertainty. We are, therefore, delighted that the RJ Power team have already developed a number of creative ways to raise money. To date, we have done so through asking for donations towards items taken from a recent furniture clearance and also through having two members participating in the London to Brighton bike ride event.
To mark the formation of the partnership, RJ Power are launching the “Pass the Baton for Beams challenge”, a chain challenge suitable to everyone of all ages and fitness levels to get active, raise awareness and raise money for We Are Beams.
