One of the most high-tech train depots in Europe is nearing completion thanks to work undertaken by RJ Power Group on the behalf of Volkerfitzpatrick for Siemens.
Three Bridges Depot in Crawley is being constructed to house the new Siemens-built Class 700 Desiro City trains, which will start operating on the Thameslink line from spring 2016.
The Three Bridges depot is split into east and west-side facilities either side of the London-to-Brighton mainline. VolkerFitzpatrick is working to complete a five-road, 12-car maintenance facility alongside workshops and offices, train stabling and servicing roads. Two carriage washing machines, a CET system and wheel lathe are also being installed.
RJ Power Group has been working closely with Volkerfitzpatrick on the installation and commissioning of the DC positive and negative track cabling from Williams Way Substation to the Up, Down and Tilgate sidings. Installation and commissioning of track isolating switches, buffer zone equipment, contactor and change-over panels.
VolkerFitzpatrick is working closely with sister company VolkerRail, who are installing all track and signalling systems into the sites.
RJ Power Group planned completion date is June’15.
