Due to ongoing success and growth within the RJ Power businesses, there has become a need to expand the provision of IT support and recruit an IT Support Engineer. Reporting into the IT Manager, the main responsibility of the successful candidate will be to provide a variety of 1st and 2nd line IT Support across the RJ Power businesses. The main responsibilities will involve hardware, software, user desktop/laptop support and mobile devices, Systems access, maintenance, system upgrades and implementation of new systems.

The role will be based in Halstead, Sevenoaks as this is the main business base however ad-hoc travel to Horsham, West Sussex will be required in order to provide support to our RJ Power Group Shared Service office.

Our ideal IT Support Engineer will be professional and friendly with an ability to provide clear and simple guidance to people with varying levels of Computer literacy and be able to develop positive and trusting relationships with their internal clients. This is a fantastic opportunity to work closely with the IT Manager on delivering an ambitious IT strategy to support business growth whilst providing a first-class service to address day to day IT issues.

Job description

First point of contact for troubleshooting issues and act as the main focal point for help and advice for all IT issues.

Installation and software support (Windows, Mac)

Administration of servers/services (SharePoint online, Exchange online, MS Teams online, MS Server 2012, Horizon Telephony services) and perform fault finding through remote services (i.e. TeamViewer, Microsoft Teams).

Establish the permissible rights of each employee in terms of access to company information held within the IT system. This will be determined through a pre-defined permissions matrix.

When new hardware or software is required, provide advice on what is most appropriate to the business.

Maintain a list of all software application renewals to ensure that they do not expire, unless the business has determined that they are no longer required.

Monitor Company Servers/Services to ensure that there is enough space to enable the company to store its electronic records.

Responsible for checking that daily backups have completed successfully. Identifying and resolving any issues.

Setting up and configuring new laptops, desktops and mobile devices, install authorised software and ensure security and upgrades are applied and kept up to date.

Completing internal user moves including phones and patching of network and phones

Exchange server mailbox maintenance including archiving mailboxes

Setting up new users and disabling expired accounts in accordance with HR requirements

Maintain systems, databases and web pages in accordance with business requirements

Provide remote IT support to Site Teams in respect of the Tablet and iPad roll out programme.

Manage the IT equipment and mobile phones on behalf of the company, record their allocation and distribute accordingly.

Log IT requests, assess and respond to them within agreed SLA’s.

Produce a monthly key performance indicator report for the IT Manager.

Successful applicants will have the following:

  • Information Technology qualification
