EXPERIENCE Successful applicants will have the following personal qualities and experience: Demonstrable electrification experience in design, installation, commissioning and maintenance Hold a Person Track Safety (PTS) Have undergone Site Safety Supervisory Training Hold Management training /qualification with relevant practical experience (desirable) A broad appreciation and experience of railway equipment Computer literacy – Excel, Word, Power point and Outlook Use of Railway planning systems Understanding of the Railway operating environment Strong interpersonal skills to influence and communicate effectively with site staff and project team Hold an Engineering Qualification (HNC) (desirable) Knowledge of HS&E requirements Risk assessment and method statement writing skills Commercial and financial awareness

A fantastic opportunity has opened for a positive and driven Construction Manager to join a growing experienced team of people within our Rail division. This role will be primarily focused on overseeing the efficacious delivery of a series of design and build installation projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for the Management of a team of site staff and subcontractors.

They will have an expert knowledge of the relevant Network Rail standards and will promote safety as the highest priority at all times, enabling their team to deliver quality results safely, and meeting client requirements. You will be able to think for yourself and solve problems in the field while ensuring all issues and work completion is reported clearly and correctly in the assigned format.

Job description:

As the Construction Manager, your duties would include the following:

  • Assist Project Management to lead, plan, manage and deliver projects safely, to time, within budget and to specification and assist in the review of all pre-construction and other technical information in order to fully understand the specifications and other deliverable requirements of projects.
  • Build and maintain project teams to facilitate successful project delivery.
  • Advise on and maintain the competency requirements of the Construction discipline.
  • Implement the requirements of the Clients Construction Phase Plan on site and assist in the development and approval of core project documentation, e.g Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets and Safe Systems of Work Packs, as required and issue to site.
  • Liaise with the Procurement Buyer to ensure project resource and material requirements are met.
  • Assist Project Management to ensure that project documentation is retained in accordance with the Document Control procedure requirements.
  • Liaise with Site Teams to ensure that they understand and are completing projects in accordance with company procedures, which includes the production and review of Site Diaries.
  • Identify, review and approve all training and development applications from site staff and submit applications to the Operations Manager for authorisation
  • Assist the Project Manager in attending internal and external meetings in relation to the progress of projects being delivered.
  • Assist in the co-ordination of project construction activity, liaise with contractors and sub-contractors alike, to minimise risks that could jeopardise the successful delivery of the project.
  • Assist Project Management in completing documentary requirements within the Health and Safety File as part of project handback.
  • Assist in the investigations into accidents, incidents or close calls within Project Delivery
  • Undertake and develop surveillance and quality inspections through the project lifecycle
